A 1000-kyat donation--about $1.20--in the baby's pocket for letting us use the family's home to cook lunch. She slept incredibly soundly surrounded by handicrafts that the women of the village kept trying to sell us.

In this case, the mobile shop wasn't stuff sold out of a motorcycle's sidecar, but just these Akha women following us to a junction on the hike that they knew we'd have to pass a few times.

The waters of the rice paddies (even during dry season) hold tilapia, snakehead fish and catfish. With some patience, someone can catch enough to sell for 4,000-5,000 kyat each day at the market in Kyaingtong city.
