We actually put our lanterns in the Moei river, but with the floodlights from the bridge and more onlookers than lantern-buyers, it wasn't nearly as pretty as this sewer near my home.

Gave it the ol' college try, but I really do not see the point in eating bugs unless you have no other source of protein. Funny thing to me is that it was tray after tray of various insects but the final tray was shrimp.

One of the hot-air balloons--a cheap plastic one rather than paper--lost its lift and fell onto my street. These floating fire hazards still amaze me.

With the wind and general haphazard way people were holding the balloons, some of them lit on fire while in hand, some crash-landed while burning, some nearly missed landing on the thatch roofs of the school or the electrical wires. The ones that worked properly were beautiful, though.
